Glad to hear she is doing better. Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions. Most questions were prior to transplant because that is where I am now in my journey. Very excited to hear her energy level is up without procrit. I know that Valcyte was on my list of meds to take after transplant, but not sure for how long. Please tell her she is my little hero. I have 2 toddlers (boys) and they keep me very busy. :)

I was surprised to find out just last week that Katie will be on Valcyte forever because of the EBV mismatch. I know that that mismatch is quite common and is not a reason to turn down any donor/kidney, it's just another bump in the road.

Vicky, the best part about after the transplant has been her increased energy. She no longer needs the procrit and she can stay up later than 8pm without getting sick.

Interesting about the EBV virus. I test positive for that and there has been actual studies that show it may be the trigger for my autoimmune disease called Sjogrens. I am on low doses of cellcept now and have been for 5 months now. It is to keep my ANA levels down because Sjogrens already attacks my body.

I have just stumbled on your very informative and detailed blog about your daughter's transplant. I am in the process of getting live donors tested. I am not on dialysis yet and my creatine is at 3.1-3.5 and BUN hovers in the upper 40's. I get new blood results next week. My kidneys have failed because of an autoimmune disease called Sjogrens Syndrome. It is similar to Lupus or MS.

I am inspired by Katie. If she can do this....so can I! I am 37 and have two little boys ages 4 & 3. I didn't know I had problems until 4 years ago. I still am reading from the beginning of your blog in 2008. I blog about what I am going through for others to learn and to help ease fears. Your blog has brought me comfort. Thanks!
